Attention all New Second Fleet Members,There have a been quite a few new people joining recently and I wanted to personally invite you to join us on Ventrilo! Ventrilo (or Vent) is a program that we use to communicate with each other audibly over the internet. It required a speaker and a microphone and will be the primary means to which the second fleet communicates, especially when the game is released. You will need to each PM me your desired username and password for access. Your username should also be your character name as it will be the name displayed in the channels and the name by which everyone will call you. Also, you will need the server information below:
Server: v4.hostventrilo.com
Port: 4912
I look forward to meeting all of you. Our official fleet meetings take place Sunday evenings at 8PM MDT (GM -7:00)

1) Download Ventrilo from this link.
2) Enter the following information for the server:
- Address: v4.hostventrilo.com
- Port: 4912
- Channel: Star Trek Online
3) Enter your username and password. If you do not have one, PM Garbo with your desired username (and also your display name) and password.You're done!

Q: Do you need a microphone to get the most out of Ventrilo or will a keyboard be enough?
A: A keyboard would be good enough at the moment. Ventrilo supports text chat, you can listen to people talking while you type (and they can see what you type). Just make sure you click on the button that says "chat" and you are in the chat room. However, for gameplay a microphone will be essential.
Q: I'm still lost. I'm unable to get Ventrilo to work. What should I do?
A: Ask for assistance at the Second Fleet Main Thread. Fleet members will be able to assist you with your questions and help you get Vent up and running.
